Introduction to Strings

Laramie Christian Academy × Cornerstone Music Studios

We are excited to announce a new collaboration between Laramie Christian Academy and Cornerstone Music Studios!

This spring, we will be offering an Introduction to Strings course on campus at LCA, giving students the opportunity to explore string instruments in a structured, encouraging, and joyful environment.

Program Overview

Introduction to Strings is an after-school course designed for students who are curious about music and interested in trying a string instrument for the first time.

The course will be taught on violin, which is ideal for establishing the fundamental skills that transfer across the entire string family, including violin, viola, and cello. Students will build strong foundations in technique, listening, and musical understanding while experiencing the joy of learning a new skill.

    • Open to students in 4th grade and up

    • Designed for beginners or students with little to no prior string experience

    • A great fit for students who want to try an instrument before committing to private lessons

    • When: Twice a week

    • Time: 2:30–3:30 PM

    • Where: Laramie Christian Academy campus

    • Dates: February through May

    • Tuition: $60 per month

Students enrolled in the course will have the opportunity to showcase their musicianship at LCA’s end-of-year performance, celebrating what they’ve learned with family and friends.

  • Throughout the course, students will develop:

    • Proper instrument setup and posture

    • Basic violin technique and tone production

    • Foundational rhythm and music reading skills

    • Listening skills and ensemble awareness

    • Confidence and musical curiosity

Instruction is beginner-centered, exploratory, and focused on long-term musical success.

  • For students who wish to continue their musical studies after the course concludes, Cornerstone Music Studios will offer private lessons over the summer. Students may continue on violin or transfer their foundational skills to viola or cello.

This course is an excellent entry point into long-term music study.

Informational Meeting

Monday January 19th

Families are invited to attend an informational meeting after school on Monday, January 19th to learn more about the course, ask questions, and determine if this opportunity is a good fit for their student.

Students will also be fitted for the correct sized violin and receive instruction on instrument rental.
